Ben  & Amy (Poole) Krahn first met showing cows at the Oregon State Fair in 1993. Ben, a 5th generation farm boy from Wisconsin, was managing the OSU Dairy Center and Amy was exhibiting cows in FFA. It was hardly love at first sight, however, as fate would have it they ended up dating a few summers later and their whirlwind romance resulted quickly in a love that is as pure and steadfast as any. After only three short months, Ben proposed and together they began forging their way in to life, with big dreams and a heart full of ambition. 

Ben's family sold their dairy farm in Wisconsin the middle of his senior year in high school, which was the reason he moved out to Oregon. Amy's homestead in Hood River was first settled in 1934 by her grandparents, Denton and Gladys Poole. Denton and Gladys passed on their love for the Jersey cow, and even had a milk route back in the 40's-60's in Hood River where they sold their farm-fresh milk. The small dairy that Amy grew up on was completely converted into orchard by Amy's parents when they took over. 

Ben & Amy longed for a dairy of their own, and with grit and perseverance, they established Royal Riverside Farm in 2010. Ben & Amy have been married since 1997 and have two beautiful daughters together.  Gracie and Clancey are involved in all day-to-day activities on the farm, whether cleaning pens, milking cows, feeding calves, or bottling milk. It is truly a family-run operation and each individual contributes valuably to the system. In 2018, the family began marketing their own vat-pasteurized, non-homogenized milk directly. 

Today, Royal Riverside Farm offers an assortment of creamline, chocolate, eggonog and flavored milks. They also produce grass-fed beef, all-natural pork, and free range eggs.   Royal Riverside Farm, along with a select few local growing partners who share the Krahn Family vision, offer the best of Oregon's produce bounty through the Classy Cow Farm Stand, located at Royal Riverside Farm. When you buy direct from Krahn Family, you can be confident that you are getting the freshest produce available, with most products going from harvest to your hands in just 1-2 days!

During the Spring of 2020, it became clear to us that we could offer a service to our local community by selling our fresh, all-natural food directly. We have always believed that supporting local is best. Farm to table is a concept that we believe our country should embrace....and now YOU can now purchase delicious, farm-fresh LOCAL food right from our little family farm.

Supporting local agriculture has always been very important to us, and as such we have dreamed of continuing our lifelong passions for farm-fresh (and high quality!) food while "agvocating" in the process. We built our farmstand to be a more convenient way for you to buy directly from our farm, and to make sure your grocery dollars not only fill your fridge with good food, but also help strengthen our local economy and community in the process. ❤ 

Royal Riverside Farm works with other local farmers to offer seasonal vegetables, seasonal fruit, value-added products, and pantry staples throughout the year. We believe that local food and convenient shopping aren’t mutually exclusive.
